Hello Everyone: I have received an email from Alesha Adamson, who is the daughter one of our classmates, Forrest Adamson. He has been on the missing list for several years and I was happy to hear from his daughter letting us know about her Dad. He passed away when she was quite young and she would like to hear from any of his classmates who knew him. Her email is alesha.adamson@gmail.com. Hope all is well and you are all ready to enjoy the summer! Nancy Nicol Thompson KU STORIES DOCUMENTARY LOOKING FOR ALUMNI STORIES, PHOTOS & MEMORABLIA [Klamath Falls, OR] K.U. stories is a documentary that will showcase the vibrant history of Klamath Union High School through the eyes of its alumni. The 90-minute DVD with book insert will utilize alumni interviews, historical photographs and other memorabilia pertaining to KU over the last century. In addition to the special emphasis that will be placed on local figures, KU STORIES will also bookmark certain turning points in history such as world wars and dates with cultural significance such as the shooting of Martin Luther King and the bombing of the World Trade Center. We hope to capture the grandeur of KUHS and its unique place in the Klamath Falls timeline. We are looking for humorous stories, love stories, human-interest stories and triumphant stories. We are looking for families with several generations of KU alumni. We are looking for high-school sweet-hearts that are still together and reunion stories. Subjects that we will be covering are the painting of the K, the painting of the bench, hazing, sports, clubs, faculty, cafeteria and the caste systems that exist in high school. Filming will take place by appointment only. KU PREMIER We are planning the premier for Christmas break 2009 in historic Pel Court. We are still in need of advertisers and sponsors for the KU STORIES project, Alumni musicians of all genres to re-create the KU Fight song, a choreographer to head up the finale cheer, Alumni to recreate historical year-book photos (must have photo and contact with all alumni in the photo), The oldest living alumni- one male and one female, Alumni to sponsor their year in KU DECADES 100 year-yearbook, band director, choir director, actual band, cheerleader, sports uniforms FROM ALL ERAS and someone who can recreate these uniforms and make alterations to them. Suzie Shewmaker has sent photos...click here to see them!!! The 45th class reunion began with an informal gathering on the patio at Mia and Pia’s Pizzeria. The reunion committee purchased pizza and vegetable trays for the occasion using our yard sale riches. The class of ‘64 was having a mini reunion so we included them as our guests for pizza and conversation. About 100 people attended, including 4 octogenarians who were waiting for the evening primroses to open! Saturday’s activities included self guided tours of the town, golf, and attending an art fair at the Running Y Ranch Resort where many of the classmates were staying. Some people even took time out for a beer and a televised football game or two at Gallagher’s Sports Bar. Running Y Ranch Resort Woodlands Ballroom was the setting for Saturday night’s event. The tables were decorated in the traditional red and white with white table cloths, red runners and a fish bowl filled with a white “homecoming Mum” with red chenille K. Remember homecoming mums? They seem to be a thing of the past now! A social hour was followed by a delicious buffet dinner of tri tip and chicken, salad, baked beans, rolls and strawberry shortcake bar. Red and white balloons surrounded the podium giving a festive atmosphere. Coffee cups created by Diana Cook Moore and featuring Pelican Pete, were available for purchase A Memorial Board was prepared to honor those of our class who have passed away. Gary Nichols, former science teacher at KU served as Master of Ceremonies. He entertained the crowd with humorous stories about several of our classmates. In addition, classmates were recognized in several categories. Barb Mathis Dunson has been married the longest (46 years); Cheryl Ball Burnett has the most grandchildren (24); Barbara Hamilton Padgett and Cheryl Ball Burnett each have a great grandchild. Betty Holmes Harshman traveled the farthest for the reunion (Chicago, IL) Carol Phillips Wiles, Andrea Silani Alexander, Barbara Mathis Dunson, John English, Fred Wickersham, and Kelly Allison were deemed the most youthful looking! Several classmates were attending their first reunion. Classmates who had served in the armed forces, law enforcement and fire departments were asked to stand and were applauded. Dennis Southard and Thurston Henzel, senior class officers were introduced. Scott Preston, Mike’s son was our gracious photographer. He took photos throughout the evening including a group photo of all the classmates and smaller group photos of the elementary school classmates. Music for the evening was provided by a five piece band called Emerald Soul. Rocky Point Resort overlooking Pelican Bay on Klamath Lake was the beautiful venue for the Sunday breakfast buffet. Linda Merry and her staff outdid themselves on the excellent food and service. It gave us one last opportunity for visiting and reminiscing. Many hugs were exchanged as we parted, promising to keep in touch and meet again for our “golden” reunion in 2013. – Nancy THANK YOU!!!!...to our Class Reunion Committee GREAT JOB!!!!
